    2. Explain your rating
I felt that despite the defeat. I did my best to be aware of the opponents that are around me.
I was actually injured before half team, after i got whacked in my knee and ankle and falling heavily on my back, but i told myself to get back up and finish the match.
For that, i'm happy that i succeeded.

    3. What did you think you do well today?
Watching the players around me, communicating with the defenders and midfielders. Trying to win the ball and counter attack as soon as that happens.

    4. Do you think you have applied what you have learned in training?
Yes, we were told to close down the attackers fast and quick and compact when we lost possesion

    5. What do you think should be improved?
positioning, and speed of dropping back. When we have the ball, we do not have enough people supporting, and when we are defending, we are sometimes not aware of the people around us.

    6. What lesson did you learn today?
Close up as many gaps as possible, to prevent the opponent from passing through balls, with more gaps, the opponent will also have more chance to attack.

    7. Do you think the team did well today?
Yes, although at times we weren't focusing. There were times when the opponent didn't manage to attack us and head to stay in their own half either that, they had to pump long balls forward to try their luck

    8. How can you help the team to improve?
Support the attack when we have possession and drop back to defend as fast as i can once we lose possession.

    9. What do you think the team can do as a team to improve?
Attacking as a team and defending as a team

    10. Who do you think is the man of the match today?
Everyone did well, but i think Jia Le deserves this

    11. Explain your answer in 10
When we were down, he will be like "ok guys, let's put this mistake aside and learn from it, and focus on what's to come next" this really helped us to play and continue on

  2. 1. Rate your performance today from 1 to 10
    I will rate myself a 2.5.

    2. Explain your rating
I contributed to the team by pressing my opponents whenever possible, so as to force them to make errors.

    3. What did you think you do well today?
I tried to make a through pass, which could have been successful had the referee played advantage for the initial foul. I also attempted to tackle an opponent towards the end of the match.

    4. Do you think you have applied what you have learned in training?
I feel that the time I played was not enough for me to apply what I have learnt, though I tried my best to defend and mark my man all the time.

    5. What do you think should be improved?
I should improve on my tackling and aggression, as well as my reading of the game so that I can challenge for every 50-50 ball with conviction.

    6. What lesson did you learn today?
I learnt that it is important to stay compact as a team, while bearing in mind not to leave gaps between defence and midfield while pegging the other team back in their own half.

    7. Do you think the team did well today?
I think that the team did very well in the second half, as we still had the drive and motivation to fight on despite the scoreline.

    8. How can you help the team to improve?
I can improve on my tackling so that I can help to win possession for the team. At the same time, I must also remember to keep possession under pressure, too.

    9. What do you think the team can do as a team to improve?
We can practice and train together during our free time, possibly on areas which will need improvement.

    10. Who do you think is the man of the match today?
    ODS.

    11. Explain your answer in 10.
He played several positions today and never stopped giving his all, chasing lost causes and making some vital interceptions.

  3. 1. I would rate myself a 6 for today's performance.

    2. Even though I've made some crucial tackles/blocks/clearances, I have also made multiple mistakes in the game. I was very obviously afraid of the ball and afraid to go into the tackle.

    3. I think today I've communicated well with my other defenders and also the midfielders. Sometimes I see players unmarked and call for players to mark them. I've also encouraged the team a lot and kept our hopes up throughout the entire game.

    4. Not really. When we are in possession, we do not automatically open up and provide the support. Although we do compact our formation more in the game, we are unable to hold the formation for very long, and eventually will allow our opponents to attack us. We also lose out in one-on-one situations, allowing the player to beat us very easily. We forget all our stance and also the main thing about not committing to the challenge. We also do not provide sufficient cover for one-on-ones.

    5. We have to be more confident with that ball and must judge the situation, to pass, to shoot, to tackle, to hold the player there etc.

    6. We have the ability and the potential to be a very strong team, but the mentality and application of training has to be better if we want to make ourselves much much better.

    7. We never gave up even after conceding freak goals and continued to give our best even when most of us were already tired.

    8. I can conduct extra training sessions to not only work on fitness, but also on the tactical things in our game.

    9. As a team we can constantly communicate even more to help secure the formation and also help each other improve and see the game better.

    10. For me, Eugene is my MOTM.

    11. He's played much much better than he usually does. In the game he went in for headers and was quite strong in the tackles. He's performance has improved and other than hoping he can keep it up, I also hope the rest can keep with the pace of his development and all become better players together.

*I would also like to commend all other players who played as I have seen that everyone has given their best. As for Matthias, Rayner, Elgin Patt, Mitchel and anyone else who are injured, GWS ^^

    Captain

  4. 1. 5 (neutral)
    2. Did not play for a long enough timeframe to judge.
    3. I did not do anything significantly excellent today.
    4. Yes.
    5. However, communication & man-marking can be improved.
    6. Compacting is useful. However, overcrowding is not.
    7. The team did well (in the second half), in moving as a group.
    8. Today, I think I need to communicate more with the right midfield (Ming En).
    9. The team needs to estimate compaction. Many a time, overcrowding caused problems.
    10. MOTM is ODS.
    11. He has managed to win the ball the most number of times.

I learnt to compact the whole mid field and defences so as to reduce the space for the opponent team
    7. Do you think the team did well today?
I think it did better in the second half as all tried their best and we started employing tactics to keep the opponent at bay
    8. How can you help the team to improve?
I can help by giving more precise direction to the team and encouraging them

    7

    2. Explain your rating
I think I was able to do pretty well in keeping the opponents from scoring.

    3. What did you think you do well today?
I tried to be more patient when I had the ball so that I could play the ball far up to my strikers instead of just pumping the ball up and getting it intercepted by opponents.

    4. Do you think you have applied what you have learned in training?
I feel that I was not able to apply what I have learnt in training as I wasn't even able to catch the high ball that came into my penalty box.

    5. What do you think should be improved?
I think that our coordination between our defense and midfielders can be improved greatly.

    6. What lesson did you learn today?
I learnt that if communication breaks down between the defense and other players, many large gaps will be left behind in our defense, allowing attackers to break through easily.

    7. Do you think the team did well today?
I think that the team did very well in pushing the opponents back in the second half as we were able to constantly keep the opponent in their own half on many occasions.

    8. How can you help the team to improve?
I think I can improve my communication so that I will be able to command my defense better and allow them to play more effectively.

    9. What do you think the team can do as a team to improve?
I think we can have more practice sessions as I feel that we really need the extra practice.

    10. Who do you think is the man of the match today?
    Jia Le

    11. Explain your answer in 10.
When Jia Le was playing as the goalkeeper, he remained high spirited and constantly encouraged everyone to put in their best even after he let in goals. I feel that this is a very good example for everyone in the team to learn from.

    4. Do you think you have applied what you have learned in training?
I was able to keep pressure on some of the attackers.

    5. What do you think should be improved?
I think i should improve on my stamina

    6. What lesson did you learn today?
We should always communicate and organise with the defense as if the defense need help, we need to help them as they might be out numbered.

    7. Do you think the team did well today?
They did well in defending for the second half as the did not let in any goal (IIRC)

    8. How can you help the team to improve?
I think we should work on our organisation and communication.

    9. What do you think the team can do as a team to improve?
They can do more communicating and doing more set pieces as after we win the ball we do not know what to do and lose the ball again.

I was fine at the start, till i couldn't keep up the speed of the game. Too, I don't understand most of the terms coach said @_@

    3. What did you think you do well today?

Nothing much, The balls that I got were by speed or luck, not really a skill matter.

    4. Do you think you have applied what you have learned in training?

No, there were chances that I could have remained calm and kept possession till the defense was with me. Other than that, my feint aren't that obvious and most of the balls are due to speed.

    5. What do you think should be improved?

    Stamina @_@

    6. What lesson did you learn today?

My strength needs improvement. recovery rate as well.

    7. Do you think the team did well today?

Totally, I see commitment in each of them.

    8. How can you help the team to improve?

I personally think its not someones fault for this. Our team need closing down work.

    9. What do you think the team can do as a team to improve?

    Possession.

    10. Who do you think is the man of the match today?

    Rayner

    3.5

    2. Explain your rating
I think I did much better as a midfielder than the last match, thanks to the guidance of the other midfielders. However, there was still many times where I was out of position and did not back up my teammates whenever there was a opponent that passed through our defense. Coach had also earlier talked about compacting the midfielders whenever we lost possession and other useful strategies. To be honest, I did not even expect to play today, so I did not pay much attention to this. As it turns out, this was to my disadvantage, as whenever the midfielders needed to shift positon I was the only one who was very unsure of what to do, thus I created a gap in the defense that our opponents managed to exploit on several occasions.

    3. What did you think you do well today?
I managed to listen to advice given by Bryan and Wen Kai, and managed to adjust into the role of playing as a midfielder.

    4. Do you think you have applied what you have learned in training?
No. There was many times where I committed myself to the opponent, and they managed to get past me. Remember that after the match I realized I was in scenarios clearly spoken to by coach and I did not realized that I was doing everything wrongly.

    5. What do you think should be improved & what lesson did you learn today??
I must to be more versatile in being able to play all roles of the team once again. I must also learn to listen closer to what my teammates are trying to tell me and be able to follow through the instructions. I will need to improve my communications more, as I can shout my head off when I am a bystander, but I do not put that skill into use as often when I am playing, thus I sometimes did not have the support I needed whenever I needed it. I learnt that today confidence is key, and we should not give up till the end of the game. Without it, I don't think I would have given my best efforts to fit into the role of a midfielder.

    7. Do you think the team did well today?
I think during the first half of the match, everyone was immediately disappointed when we let in a goal within the first few moments of the game starting. Our confidence was falling, and this was evident as we let in a few more goals. However, Jia le started to motivate our players as the match dragged on. Eventually, in the second half, I could see that everyone did not care about how bad be were losing. They were playing it for the love of the sport and we giving it their 100%.

    8. How can you help the team to improve?
Once again, be more versatile and improve on my fitness and speed as a soccer player. Must be more courageous and fierce during the game. I must also improve on basic soccer skills and improve on my quick-thinking to make important decisions during gameplay, where we are most stressful. I must also learn to play with my fellow teammates, as I am in a team. United we stand, divided we fall.

    9. What do you think the team can do as a team to improve?
We should have more practice sessions whereas we could spilt into groups of players with different strengths and postions in the teams. We would then help each other out with whatever training drills we are going through. The stronger players could help coach the weaker players, giving encouragement and support whenever coach was busy with another group of players.

    10. Who do you think is the man of the match today?
    ODS
    11. Explain your answer in 10
It was obvious that we was the only one who did not give his hundred percent, because he was giving his 200% at the very least every moment of the game.

    ReplyDelete
  11. 1. Rate your performance today from 1 to 10
    I rate myself 3.5.

    2. Explain your rating
I went out of positions many times and I miss a golden opportunity at the end by predicting that the goalkeeper would run out and punch so turning around and blocking his run is technically a foul because it's inside the goalkeeper's box. But he didn't, so I am really disappointed in not scoring because for the Juying match and this match I have a lost 3 opportunities to score. I also got a yellow card for handball, which I think was lucky because it was not in the penalty box, but the free kick eventually led to a wonder goal by their players unmarked by the midfield.

    3. What did you think you do well today?
I did not give up till the very end. I continued chasing the ball even though i was very tired and my throat seems to be really dry for some reason (did not experience this except when in Beijing). I also tried to give encouragement and instructions on what to do.

    4. Do you think you have applied what you have learned in training?
I think I applied only some parts of what I learned in training because I kept dribbling into the center and losing the ball. However, I did manage to apply the two-arms length rule and I did pass when I have the chance and try to move into space and calling for the ball, even though this was really basic.

5 and 7 and 9. What do you think should be improved? Do you think the team did well today? What do you think the team can do as a team to improve?
For me as a team, people need to realise that deserting your position just because you're tired and not even making an attempt to run back is not a very smart thing to do because it was just give us a mis-match in numbers when defending. I think that is one of the main problems today. Other than that we also had quite a few defensive errors like trying to push the opponent to the side instead of using the boxing stance, which is also a really bad habit that we have to get rid of because I already told Niklaus not to do it and he still does it. For me that's 2 main reasons why we fail to keep them from shooting. To be honest, the central midfield has to run more because they are not marking the running men. They are walking and ball-watching. Even though Eugene and Matthias did contribute and improve (former), I honestly don't think they fulfill their midfield roles because most of times the right hand side is just too strong for us to handle, so Yuan Ching passed the ball towards the center because we push extra men towards the right, and the center will dribble and pass to the left, where they have a really really good crosser. However, Bryan and I have to guard 3 men because the midfield are not marking at all, they are just walking. For the defensive errors I think Niklaus will definitely get rid of it in the next match because he did not commit the same mistake after his first.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 6. What lesson did you learn today?
Fitness is really important. Judgment is important. Staying in position is important. I am the only one that got a chance today to actually score and I didn't score due to my judgmental error. Because the weather was hot I got tired after 15 minutes and start running lesser to conserve energy, so most of the times I play with a defensive mindset and defend instead of helping out in the attack.

    8. How can you help the team to improve?
I have to stay in position more, which only could be done if the midfield will be more willing and determined to mark instead of just walking in the center of the midfield doing no shit. I also should be way more clinical and convert half-chances because I know I have the ability to but my judgement is really really poor.

10 and 11. Who do you think is the man of the match today? Explain your answer in 10.
Nobody deserves the award today but to be honest not everyone did their absolute best, although everyone tried to, which is more important. Also, people start listening to my instructions, especially Bryan and Bernard, which we call the triangle communication. Bryan shouted instructions to me and encouraged me, while Bernard did a great job in switching roles with me and covering me. Even though there were shots coming from the left it ceased after a while, when all their attacks all came from the right.

We have a match against Jurongville. It's high time we start improving and play what we are actually capable of :)

  13. 1) I would rate myself 4.3 for first half and 6.3 for second.

    2) I've let in a couple of soft goals due to my tendency to leave my line. I managed to grab hold of some shots/crosses and did some saves too.

    3) I felt that I was mentally stronger than the previous match which contributed to the team spirit. Also, I did not give up and did what I could do to prevent the ball from crossing the line.

    4) For most of the goals conceded, I wasn't at the correct position to block out the angle of the shot. However, I managed to grab hold of the ball most of the time when dealing with far shots and crosses.

    5) Support play. Many of times when we get the ball, 3/4 of the team are WALKING. Not in the opponent's half, but in defence. We need to attack as a team and defend as one. One player is not going to spring a miracle by himself upfront. Positioning is also very important. We should not over-run and cover too much space in defence when we're not supposed to. For eg I constantly see Wen Kai in LB position to cover Bryan. This shows that when one person shifts/leaves their position, the whole team is affected.

    6) Judgement. Many of times I got it wrong as I called 'my ball' when I shouldn't have. Also, mentality is very important. If one goes into a game with a losing mindset, one is set to lose.

    7) Honestly, no. We didn't get hold of possession often and I still see people scared to go in for challenges or even a high ball.

    8) As a vice-captain, I felt that I've done satisfactory work in encouraging the team on every now and then.

    9) Communicate. We lack ample communication between the defence and midfield, thus leaving big gaps or players running out of position.

    10) I wish to specifically commend on players that imo played to their potential.

    11) For the defence, Nik and Darius were constantly chasing down balls and covering the wing backs. They were to source of communication too. The wing backs tried their best to prevent crosses and won crucial balls in the second half. Midfielders such as Eugene stepped up their game and playmakers like Wen Kai and Matthias were always looking for the ball.

Overall, I feel that we have had a great season so far. Highs and lows, we need to learn from them. Let's do our best for the last match against Jurongville (:

I'll personally give myself a 7 out of the effort I put in, but only a 3 for my resulted play (in comparison to possible potential).

    2. Explain your rating
I would really wanted and have always intended to try and to give my best during every match, but honestly, I find that I haven't really reached what I am capable of contributing yet, even though I felt that I spent a lot of effort during the game.

    3. What did you think you do well today?
I think I have done well in playing and applying with our newly-introduced concept/strategy of space during certain points of play back then. I remembered to go back into position when I was told to 'HOLD!', though this was not for all cases.

    4. Do you think you have applied what you have learned in training?
In terms of application, I think I have somewhat tried my best to use what I have learnt for the match; but for countering the natural psychological effects affecting the application of skills such as knowing how to go enough for the ball at the right time, I believe I still have much more room for improvement.

    5. What do you think should be improved?
With reference to fundamental skills, I would need to improve on my upper body control (especially headers), passing accuracy regardless of position (for both feet), dribbling skills and the long pass/clearance/shooting technique; with that to strategy, I would need to know how to move around the pitch according to different factors including (but not limited to) position played, direction of the goalkick, need to run for the space to support/cover, need to dribble past opponents as well as all other situations involving similar movements. As mentioned before in some of my previous reflections as well, I would need someone, (preferably from the better players) who would correct my mistakes, to really focus on training with.

    6. What lesson did you learn today?
I learnt that we need to pull the opponents away during a goalkick and close in during an attack, though we must ensure that, in the case of goalkicks, we go in to control the ball accordingly – otherwise our opponents will (which applies especially to me for many of the previous matches; I wasn't quick enough to go in front of the opponent during a goalkick and hence this in fact turned this strategy into a disadvantage). In particular to this match as well, I learnt that aside from the striker, most of the players should stay behind and not commit too early – which actually seemed to work in this match. When playing for midfield position, players should always close in towards the center, and not allow any opponent player to dribble through from there. This ensures that there is enough players at any one time to decrease the chances for them to have space to shoot.

(to be continued in the next comment below)

  15. (continued from the previous comment above)

    7. Do you think the team did well today?
Yes, in terms of commitment, I think we did quite well, though as stated above, I believe we still have much more room for improvement.

    8. How can you help the team to improve?
I can help the team improve by constantly reminding them that we are working as a team. I think I have talked about this in some of my previous comments, that as a soccer team, players should not complain about the problems their own team mates have – as it does not really help in changing those problems– but instead comment on what they should do to improve.

    9. What do you think the team can do as a team to improve?
We need to focus on our passing, support play, communication and possession. Basically, in order to play as a team, we (consisting of every player) need to move together as a team, with no single player left useless on the pitch. This increases our productivity and efficiency of play.

    10. Who do you think is the man of the match today?
Though everyone did put in their best – to the point that many got injured – I personally think that the man of the match is no doubt Eugene.

    11. Explain your answer in 10
Eugene was seen to be playing really much more better in terms of potential and what others think than anyone else did. From my perspective at the right, he was one of the players who earned our possession by watching the ball, stealing it well from the opponents before bringing the ball up. This happened constantly throughout the game and I think it was much a surprise to quite a number of players. Hence, I think out of the many players who always put in a lot of effort, he should be credited for the good play this match.

  18. 1.) I rate my performance today a 4.
2.) Although I went into the game with a strong mentality, I was not on form and did not play well after the first 20 minutes. During the game, I was usually chasing after the balls and not getting possession of the ball. Most of the time, I was lost on what to do as I am not quite sure how to strike properly. I was also unclear of how to most efficiently support and was lacking as a striker during the game.
3.) I think what I did well was that I went into the game with a positive mindset and I was relatively pumped up for the game beforehand.
4.) I think I did apply skills such as pressuring when the defenders from Yuan Ching when they had the ball.
    5. I think I should have not commit too much when I was going for the ball as I found myself losing my stamina after awhile and could not play as well.
    6. I have learnt that I am still not comfortable to play different roles.
    7. I think the team did well in team defence as they worked together to keep their defence strong.
    8. I should train to be a better striker so I can play as a striker when the team is lacking one.
    9. The team should learn how to bring the ball after defending from the opponents and keep possession of the ball and attack from there.
    10. I did not notice any one that was exceptionally but most the team did well today, I can tell that most people put in a lot of effort when playing.

    2. I was so close to completing the entire match!

    3. I was more aggressive during the game and gave several headers, which I have never the courage to do.

    4. The technique I found most useful during the game is the "player shoulder bumps the opponent when you know you can't get the ball" technique.

    5. I have to drop back more to the defense and support the side to prevent crosses.

    6. When you can't beat them to the ball, nudge them instead of the ball. :D

    7. The team did rather well in terms of defense and has improved a lot since last year's tournament.

    8. I should be more supportive of my teammates be it offense or defense.

    9. Like I said they should move as one.

    10. Many players improved from their mistakes.

    11. Defenders and Midfielders, Offense and Defense all put in effort to try and stay compact. Players like Bernard, also made an effort to adapt to changes with their usual positions.
