  1. I would rate myself a 3. I felt that my accuracy and distance when taking a drop kick has improved as compared to the other games as this time, my drop kick managed to go past the halfway line, as compared to previously, where it just grazed past the halfway line. However, this is not a great feat, because this is something that I should have mastered long ago. I coud have been less hesitant before the second goal was conceded as that small window of time could have given me a higher chance to save the ball. Moreover, I knew where it was headed for and this just made my slow reaction time the greatest cause of conceding the goal.

I learnt that confidence is key when playing as a goalkeeper, as all the goals I had conceded could have been easy saves had I not hesitated.

Yes, I think the team did well today as the play was more aggressive today, and we managed to win a few corners in the starting few minutes of the match. Also, the scoreline today has been the best we have ever seen in this 2 weeks of competition, so I believe that we have all put in our best today.

As mentioned before, I need to be more confident with or without the ball and also work on my reaction speed/timing.

We have to work on our fitness, although it seems to be improving with less players showing signs of fatigue.

I feel that Niklaus is the man of the match for today. He defended really well and always challenged for the ball, preventing the opponent from getting into the box many times.

  2. I rate myself a 7 for the game as I feel I've done well as captain to keep pumping the team to work harder. As CB, I've been quite aware of my surroundings and less easily beaten compared to earlier in the tournament. I am also more active in the game, in the sense that when we get corners or freekicks, I push up and support the attack, and I'm always alert and ready to sprint back to defend if we lose possession while we attack. I also think my performance as CDM has improved. I supported the attack a lot, and after I attacked, I had the will to drop back more, and help out defensively. However, I need to work on my passing, and learn to be more calm and composed on the ball. If I remember correctly I only got one successful pass, which isn't good at all if I'm aiming to become the playmaker.

Today, I've learnt that even though this team isn't perfect, we have the capability to score and win matches, we just do not have the belief. For the first time as SST, we were able to keep the pressure in the opponent half, and had to defend and attack a lot in the game. I honestly think it is because our opponent isn't as strong as the others, but still, it is an achievement to be proud of. No one is to be blamed for conceding the two goals that cost us the match, we can only think about what we did wrongly and how we can improve, and what we did correctly and should keep doing.

I think we have only 2 things to work on. Small things in a game, but always being used. Our fitness and aggression. A lot of times, when we're physically trying to win them, e.g shielding, corners etc., we lose almost all the time. We always make use of our speed instead of just bumping them off. This is something I feel we need to work on as sooner or later, as we grow older and more into professional player, we can't always rely on speed, and have to get physical sometimes. This also links up to fitness. I've seen improvements in some of your fitness, but for most of us there's still a lot to work on. As a midfielder, we are always tasked to run up and down the field, and how can we do so if our fitness is poor? Fitness is very important as a soccer player, and to me soccer is one of the most physically tiring sport there is.

Like I said, for aggression, we can hold more physical training sessions to help improve physical strength, at the same time also training our fitness. As long as we are focused on training and improving ourselves, we will improve in no time.

My MOTM for the game would be Jia Le. He was tirelessly running up and down, helping out in defense and always ready for a counter-attack. He has been our key player in today's game, creating the chances, making good runs, spraying good passes, and he also provided the assist for Ryan's goal. His fitness never seemed to falter, and never lost faith and continued fighting and giving his best. Having said that however, he needs to work a bit on the discipline part. Throwing the ball at your opponent isn't something very good to do...

I would also like to commend the efforts of Timothy, Ryan and Ethan. Timothy has impressed me tremendously in this tournament with his aggression and willingness to take the tackles. His tackling has been very accurate and has never looked afraid to take on any opponents, no matter their size or looks. Ryan has been consistent in his performance and with much training and confidence boost, he will prove to be a very good playmaker. Ethan has shown a great improvement since the first game. He has become more aggressive, and has defended very tirelessly today.

I have seen everyone's efforts today, and I am proud to have captained SST in this last game of Delta League. I might not have pointed you out for your efforts, but all of you have played well today, but I still think some of you can do better, so keep this performance up and do better next time!

i.e. Rating>3.5. I feel that I have put in more effort than my previous 2 games and have done pretty well.
    What I do well today?
I done well in my agression although I can improve on it and my passing has become more firm.
    What could have been better?
Although this match I did not have any headers, but I feel that I still need to improve on my headers.
Did I apply what I have learned in training?
Not really, only firm passing, locking my ankles then pass.
If yes, how? 2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?
I learnt that communication is very important as miscommunication may allow opponent to score simple goals.
    3. Do you think the team did well today?
Pretty well and I am very happy for the team as I can tell the team have put in their 101%
    4. How can you help the team to improve?
People can get their morale boosted when their team had scored a goal or dribble successfully or had a great shot on goal, so I think if I can do one of these, I believe that it can help boost the team in a way which they will also think that they can do it
    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?
Communicate more and adapt their position as some of them are not used to their position and encourage them to do better when they have done a mistake
    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.
Farruq will be my MOTM. He was playing with confidence and kept a clean sheet during the first half and what impresses me is his communication with LC,CB,CB,RB.

I rate myself only a 3 today as firstly, i only played for the second half and my stamina rock bottom. i could have took time off and did some training but i didnt. Secondly, i missed a very easy ball from a cross that might have actually lead to a goal and a boost in our morale and confidence. This might even have led some of the people's morale to drop as they say my lousy performance. Lastly, I did not apply much from training as my stamina could not keep up with most of the things. Iv learnt that stamina is the most important thing in the game overall as what Mr Tan said, if we have an extra gear to run when the opponents are tired we could have done much better and outrun them. I think most the team have put in alot of effort to defend today as they managed to cut of some of the people that were attacking. I think the team should actually do more set plays and attacking drills to actually improve our midfield and our attack as attack is the best defence. Sometimes even if we have the defence, after we get possession, we would quickly lose them back because of the lack of skill and the knowledge of what to do under pressure no matter how good our defence is, they will breakthrough it with the high amount of shots. I think MOTM is abiyuu. He have shown much improvements in the game and he have gotten a few good passes that could have led to a goal scoring opportunity

  5. 5, I believe in the delta league, this match has been of my best performance. However, 2 goals were resulted partly from my mistakes. The 2nd goal we conceded, I didn't mark my man properly, while he wasn't the one who scored the goal, he contributed to that moment of confusion within our defenders and goalkeeper, allowing the freeman in the centre to gain a certain advantage to score. For the 3rd goal, despite the fact that fouls should have been given and the corner kick taker took the kick just after the referee talked to our player and our goalkeeper being pushed and asking for a foul which wasn't given, i should have focus more on the ball.

However, i believe that i did do my best to win every challenge, and cover for my team mates. When goalkicks are to be taken, i went up to take them instantly, when throw-ins are to be taken, i immediately went for the ball. While not all were perfect throws or kicks, I believe i had applied what i leaned in training in the proper technique to kicking long balls.

We are like a toothless cub, we have chances to attack, but poor passing led us down in the final 3rd. There are times when we have players who are open, but they did not call for the ball. This led to lots of wasted opportunities. Even attacking free kicks, our positioning is so bad that at times, were blocking the person that is taking the set pieces' sight.

We had much better communication, we were fighting for a win, so i think there was a great improvement in our attitude.

I believe that lots of challenges that we not able to win are due to the fact of our lack of physical strength. Therefore, while we do fitness training, i believe weight training would also benefit the team.

I believe Jia Le and Darius performed to the best they could. Jia Le also had good vision in attempting to set up goals, unfortunately, they weren't converted. They set great examples as captain and vice captain

I rate myself a 4 for this match. For this match, I feel that I have tried to close down the defenders more and trying to deny them the space and time which may lead to them making mistakes, giving us a chance to attack. I also tried to mark the defenders during throw ins so as to give the thrower lesser options. For the attacking aspect, I feel I have made a lot of mistakes and have a lot to improve on. For example, my first touches were very poor which allowed the defender to get the ball back once I got it. I also made a very silly mistake by trying to back heel the ball back to Jia Le when he passed the ball to me for the one-two but I did not generate enough power so the ball did not reach him. If i had stopped the ball first and turned around to get a better view, I would have had more options. I could have passed the ball back to Jia Le or, I could have taken a touch away from the defender and have a shot at goal which could have put us in the lead.

    2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?

I have learned that the team is not as weak as we all think. We have the potential to beat teams like this. The only real difference is that the opponents are better in the tricks aspect which allows them to make space for themselves. As we all saw, Ryan's goal was not some lucky goal or some free kick or penalty kick goal. It was a goal that we created with passing and dribbling. This shows that we can do it if we believe in ourselves.

    3. Do you think the team did well today?

I think the team did particularly well today. Many scoring opportunities were created which we normally do not have.

    4. How can you help the team to improve?

I should communicate with my teammates more as I sometimes find me and another teammate chasing for the ball which closes up the play as we drag the defenders together which is not good.

    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?

I think we must become physically stronger as we often get pushed off the ball easily or when we are defending, we get knocked out of the way easily. If we can improve this, we would be able to get past defences easier.

    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection

I think Abiyyu is the Man Of The Match. He had made many good tackles and going in for the ball even though most of the opponents were bigger and stronger than him. I even think he won most, if not, all of his tackles.

  7. 1) I would rate myself 7.3. This match, I fought with dignity and pride. I challenged every ball with focus and determination. There was something different about me in this match. I wanted to win. Besides creating that chance for Ryan to score, I was constantly dropping back to help out the defence and always ready for a counter attack. I guess this mentally was what pushed my physical limits and helped me excel in this match.

    2) I've learnt that life is never fair. You can get tripped by your opponent off the ball, tackled in the stomach studs up and elbowed whenever you get pass them. However, we have to pick ourselves up and look forward to the next piece of action. During the game, I dribbled pass 2 players and was one on one with the fullback. Next thing I know, I was on the ground being challenged from behind. No foul was given. Coach shouted at me to get up as I saw Wilbur on the ball. Just as he lost possession, I controlled the ball, looked up and sent a diagonal ball towards JQ, only to be deflected off an oncoming defender and fell to Ryan's legs. He scored.

    3) I can proudly say yes. I could see that most of us were playing our hearts out and challenging for the ball with passion and determination. Abiyyu was so much smaller than 2 guys from the opponent's team but he stood his ground and challenged them. He won. That is the kind of spirit that most of us should adopt whenever we face uncertainties. It is only impossible until it is done.

    4) I can help by controlling my self-esteem further as that almost led to me getting sent off. Like what coach and Mr Tan said, football is a statistical game. If we were one man down, we will be in great disadvantage given that we are already THAT weak.

    5) Fitness and aggression. During the last quarter of the game, I found myself the only one running into open space and calling for goalkicks. I'm sure that if we improve our fitness levels, we will have more chance of gaining possession and creating space for ourselves. Also, we need to be more aggressive. Although we were against 16-17 year olds, Niklaus had the willpower and aggression to fight for the ball and muscle out the strikers.

    6) I would like to present the MOTM to Ryan. As our tournament's top scorer, he has been consistent in his performance down the right wing and has since cemented his place there. He constantly asks for the ball and works his way through multiple defenders. I like how he dared to pull off a trick or two even though his opponents were towering over him. On this note, I would like to praise Abiyyu and Ethan for significantly improving from previous matches. They were hard in their challenges during the first half which in my opinion greatly helped us in keeping a clean sheet. Also, Darius and Niklaus for being strong and commanding at the back. Without our captain's support, I doubt most of us will maintain high morale levels.

Even though I've only participated in 3 of the games, I would like to thank Coach, Mr Tan and the rest for giving me such an enjoyable (ok maybe not) and educational experience. There are lots of key takeaways and I hope you guys will at least learn from one of them. Remember to exercise regularly during the holidays!

    ~Jia Le

    i.e.
    What I do well today?
I think that I this game was my best out of all the matches so far.I covered bryan quite well and limited the opponents attacks.
    What could have been better?
I could have improved in the attacking department.Holding of the ball and bringing the ball up.
Did I apply what I have learned in training?
If yes, how? I applied the part where I should go and cover and support the people defending or with the ball.
    2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?
    -Nil-
    3. Do you think the team did well today?
I think that we did considerably well as compared to the previous matches. We managed to score a goal not from a set-piece.This shows our improvement as a team.
    4. How can you help the team to improve?
I could help by discipling myself during trainings, etc.
    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?
Same as my previous post.Like my suggestion is the same.
    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection
I think that Ryan is the MOTM for scoring the goal and being able to bring the ball up front.I think he just needs to grow physically stronger to be able to compete and stand head-to-head with other older or bigger opponents. If he can do this,I'm sure our sec 1 will be able to do well in the coming years:)
