  2. 1. Rate your performance today from 1 to 10 and justify your rating

I would rate myself a 2. Although I let in 4 goals, 2 of which were terrible mistakes, which mainly contributes to the rating, I feel that my diving has improved but still needs improvement.

    2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?

I learnt more about communicating with the defenses as well as positioning for the goalkeeper.

    3. Do you think the team did well today?

Personally, I feel that the team has not done well. In terms of fitness, we are not up to our own expectations as we could tell from some players who were tired only after awhile.

    4. How can you help the team to improve?

I need to work on the timing of my diving etc. as well as be more confident with the ball as seen from the second goal.

    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?

I think that we can have more friendly matches so as to build up our exposure to real matches and we get a taste of how we react to tougher opponents.

    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.

I think that Luke is the man of the match. He made the effort to stick to his opponent and also tried to win the ball when possible.

  3. 2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?
I feel that the fitness of the team is very bad. Less than 10 mins into the match and people are already tired, not approaching for the ball, not going for the challenge, these are just signs to show that they are tired.

Also, from my point of view which i was standing at the side of the goal post. I realised that the goalkeeper positioning really needs to improve. Half of the goals came from mistakes from goalkeepers which included no confidence and no communication. Something keepers really have to work on together with the defenders.

However, we cannot put the blame on the keepers alone, I also realised that the other half of goals came from the 'hole' in the defense. The centre backs are not compact enough. Most of the time, the defensive midfielders are not communicating with each other to see who is going to get the ball, causing lots of confusion. The wide midfielders at times also have to come back. Since our priority is defense, we must learn to be discipline and compact.

    3. Do you think the team did well today?
Not at all. Attitude and behaviour decides everything. But the way our players move, the way our players try to challenge for a ball prove that they are already giving up before the match is over. It's okay if we lose. But it is never ok if we lose without putting effort. Never giving up was the SST 'B' Division forte, we really need to transfer this over to the rest of the players.

    4. How can you help the team to improve?
I think i already did my best today. Picking up balls for the team, shouting at the defenders to mind their positioning and their awareness of the players around them and also encouraging the keeper when he makes a save or a good call for a ball. At this stage where our juniors just had the exposure, it is important for us to encourage them.

    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?
Obviously we have a lack of match practice. But like I always said, we need to put a lot more effort in training. Committed

    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.
I certainly don't think anyone deserved to be man of the match.
But i would like to commend Darius for having the 'never give up' spirit even when we were losing by a big difference.

  4. 1. I would rate myself a 6 for the game as I feel that I've done my part as captain to keep the team together and try to maintain the morale. Defensively, I didn't do as well as I expected of myself, but have been at the heart of the communication throughout. However, as much as I didn't want to see my team running away from challenges and not closing them down, I've been conscious of my own actions, and a lot of time I have found myself hesitating to close down the player and instead of taking the player head on, I've turned my back on them when they seem ready to shoot and allowed myself to be beaten too easily. I've applied a bit of what I've learnt in training from Coach Peikang mainly, playing to the flanks and marking opponents side-on. I also tried taking a glance before receiving to look out for incoming players and to see where open players are, but lost control of the ball in the end…

    2. I've learnt that there is A LOT to be done for the C Div team, mainly tactically and mentally. I don't really see a lot of commitment and communication from the C Div boys in the game. Half the time you guys are walking, jogging at best, out of position, so very hesitant. Honestly, Diamonds wasn't good at all, but we made them look good. Tournament teams are of a higher calibre, and if this is the kind of standard we will be playing with, our 20-0 loss record will be overwritten very very fast, maybe even multiple times in just a few games.

    3. Honestly, not at all. The best player for me was Adil, and he didn't even receive the ball a lot, and that says a lot. I've seen all of you during training and playing during recess, and yesterday's performance was nowhere near of that quality, if you even call that quality. I may sound harsh, but I only want you guys to reflect on yesterday's performance and do better tomorrow.

    4. I could've done much more to tune the mentality of the team, as I can see that most of them went in with the thinking that they'd lose, and there was no need to put in as much effort as we would lose anyway. I don't want that kind of mentality. I want us to go in with a winning mentality, as I always believe that the ball is round and anything can happen, as long as we put in our 100% effort (if not more), we will be satisfied even if we lost 30-0.

    5. We can do more tactical drills, shifting with the ball, approaching the ball, more passing etc. All these are small little things in a game, but when trained and becomes a habit, we will improve and become much better.

    6. No one in my opinion deserves MOTM, but I would like to commend Luke and Adil for their performance. Luke adapted well as RB and even though he lost out a lot, he never seemed to lose faith and always gave his full effort and defended relatively well. As for Adil, he was the only player I noticed that actually didn't hesitate to go in to challenge the player. Even though his headers didn't get to his target, him actually going for the header and winning it is an achievement in itself. Him getting angry at the performance of others is also a sign of his commitment and the mentality he has. I hope everyone can adapt that same mentality, as it will help improve our performance.

I hope everyone remembers the lessons you've learnt during yesterday's match. Don't forget them, and make sure you never commit the same mistakes again. I want to see an improved performance tomorrow.

    Darius Low,
    Captain

  6. 1. Rate your performance today from 1 to 10 and justify your rating.
I would rate myself a 2. I attempted many times to clear the ball away and was successful quite a few times, but I should have covered more for my team mates and close up the gap in the defense.

2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?
I learnt that it was not easy marking a player as he will move around all the time and you would have to mark him tightly, and wherever he goes you have to follow him closely and intercept any balls passed to him, and also at the same time try to cover up for your team mates.

3. Do you think the team did well today?
In my opinion, I think that the team did not do well today, mainly because all of us lack communication with each other, which caused a gap in between the midfield and the defense and allowed the opponents to go through and score.

4. How can you help the team to improve?
I think I can help the team improve by communicating more with my fellow defenders and defensive midfielders. I can also defend more aggressively and help clear the ball away from our goal as far as possible, as many times as I can, and mark my man more tightly, so that he does not get the ball too often.

5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?
Always communicate throughout the game and cover for our team mates when they have the ball. And probably play more friendly matches, so as to build up our confidence.

6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.
I think Luke is the man of the match as he defended quite well and tackled the ball away a few times to prevent the opponents from scoring again, and he also marked his man very tightly, not allowing him to get the ball too often.

    ReplyDelete
  7. 1) I would rate myself a 1, or even a 0 if I could, because most of the goals I conceded were very careless mistakes, I did not communicate with my fellow team-mates and I did not pay much attention to the ball as I kept talking to Bryan.
    2) I learnt to not underestimate our opponents and I should communicate more with my team-mates to improve the defense of the team.
    3) I do not think the team did well at all. Our fitness was bad and we commit too much to our opponents.
    4) I could communicate with the defenders as I could see the field from a wider perspective so that they would know where the ball is going to and it is at so they could cut the opponent's pass and get the ball.
    5) I think the team could improve more on the tactics, passing and communication.
    6) I think Luke is the Man Of The Match yesterday. He may be tired as he was playing for the rest of the match but he still did his best to stick to his opponent and defend.

    ReplyDelete
  8. 1) I rate myself as 1 or even 0 as I played terribly. I did not do my best. I was also careless. I played without thinking carefully or I thought too much and did not do what I could.

    2) I learned that I should not be playing half-heartedly. I also learned that I should not be afraid of the other team.

    3) I think that we did not do our best today. We did not communicate properly with each other, also some of us did our best while others just stood there thinking that they are the ones contributing the most but wound up doing the least, even worst some of us were shouting at each other.

    4) I think that if I want to help thee team improve I should start with myself. I will try to improve physically to keep up with the team while also improving mentally as to not be scared but instead to have the spirit to play my best. I admit my mistakes. I did let the team down.

    5) I think we can improve by communicating with each other more and by not giving up on each other.

    6) I think Luke is the man of the match as he was the one who played the hardest and in the end did the best. He deserves to be the man of the macth.

3 I think I have done horribly as a defender. I did not manage to stop the player in time. I was panicing as I did not know whether to remain at position or move to pressure the attacker. The only reason that I did not give myself a 1 is because I cleared some good goals
    What I do well today?
I managed to clear some of the balls away just in time before they can take a shot
    What could have been better?
I could have made the defense a lot stronger by filling in the gaps. I could have also supported the attack. This would either have prevented a goal for them or created one for us
Did I apply what I have learned in training?.
    2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?
I learn to focus on the game more and use the strength of my mentality more. I was out of my focus and could not push myself to perform well
    3. Do you think the team did well today?
I think the team did horrible. Our tactic of attack was simply luck and our tactic for defense was scramble. This two tactics were the worst two tactic possible
    4. How can you help the team to improve?
I can help in organising the team. This would make the play better and would create more chances to get the ball to the strikers to score
    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?
I think the team should learn to pass in a crowded area. The field of play was very crowded and we had no choice to clear.
    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.
I think ethan was the man of the match. He was tackled by boys twice his size yet he was relentless and managed to clear the ball. He also made up for some mistakes that I made.

    1
    What I do well today?
nothing much i just did clearings and stuff which was not very successful. not very used to sticking with the defence kind of stuff so yeah i think i did terribly in fact.

    What could have been better?
i could have learned to stick together with the defensive line as i kept on pushing myself forward to the centre line which was not my position in the first place. I need to learn to restrain myself and try to communicate with the left winger which in this case was matthias instead of trying to cover both of it at the same time.

Did I apply what I have learned in training?
not exactly as i had difficulties on controlling the ball and heading the ball. when i tried to volley the other way i made a mistake in my touch and it was not controlled well enough.

    2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?
i learned that i am not fit enough to play a full side game. by the 40th minute i had trouble running while the other team seemed to have nothing wrong with themselves and ran as normal. while i was standing there panting.

    3. Do you think the team did well today?
to be honest i don't think they did well i believe that if we communicate we can be much much better and let them concede less or no goals at all.

    4. How can you help the team to improve?
i can help the team by putting the right mindset into the game. During the game when they scored their third goal i was thinking this is over what can we do? I didn't put in the right mindset and nearly gave up when they were winning us which should not have been the case.

    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?
We need to work on our communication with each other. Try to believe that we are one team and try to stick together and believe to try and win the match. We also need to think positively and ensure that we always have the fighting spirit within us ^_^

    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.
in this case i don't think anyone deserves to be the man of the match. As the team was messed up and it was not joined together as one. The attack was messy the midfield was all around the area and for me i was totally out of position as the coach explained my mistake during and after the game.

  11. 1. I will rate myself a 4. I think today i was doing practically nothing. I did not help my team in anyway and kept losing the ball. I could have been better interms of my ball control and communication and defending. I did not apply what i learned in training as I was not confident of mysewlf.

    2. I learnt that we are in need of serious improvement. Our fitness is low and we can barely hold the ball. We have chances and we waste them and we let ouyr opponents dominate the game.

    3. No. I think that the team did not do well because we were physically beaten and mentally beaten. Our fitness was very weak and when our opponents scored, our mentallity was that we were going to lose hence we lost the game.

    4. I think i can help the team improve by encouraging the others so that they vcan acheive greater things and improve hence the whole team will improve.

5.We can help each other, and encourage each other. Encouragement goes a long way and if we constantly encourage and give constructive feedback, everyone can become a better player.

    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.
I think the man of the match by far is luke. In my opinion he was the best person in that whole match. He defended and cleared like i have never seen him before. He has shown tremendous improvement from the last match and that is why i votew him as man of the match.

  12. 1. Rate your performance today from 1 to 10 and justify your rating
I would give myself a 4 as I felt that I did all I could to defend as a target man all the way at the front, but I do admit that I made some mistakes when counter-attacking as not being able to carry out the next step when I am being chased by a bunch of opponent defenders, and I think that I was not in full form, especially when chasing the ball for a defender.
    2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?
I learnt that we all defend and attack, despite our appointed positions, and that even as a forward I must do my part in tackling and challenging for the ball, as like what Wen Kai said, if I can't get the ball from the defenders and midfielders to attack, I must get it myself, which means that I can't rely fully on the midfielders and defenders to gain possession, and sometimes I have to do things myself.
    3. Do you think the team did well today?
No, firstly, we were short of our key players like Jia Le, Wei Hong, Niklaus, and Mitchel was available but he didn't sign up, so that was a waste of effort, and also the defense are lacking in agility, and the midfielders are too soft and not aggressive enough, which if they continue gives not point in training shoulder bumps during training.
    4. How can you help the team to improve?
I can help the team by trying to gain possession of the ball from the defenders, as it'll save the trouble of the defenders and midfielders so there'll be more support for the attacking players like me, Ryan, and Matthias.
    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?
The team can start by practicing controlling the ball, especially receiving it from above, as compared to our opponents who simply put the ball on their foot and pass, and we should learn to use our heads by heading the ball so the opponent attackers doesn't stand a chance with the ball.
    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.
I would say Darius as he was the most involved player in the defense, he was very agile and quick on his feet, unlike the others, who are either just jogging, or they can't sprint at all, and I felt that our coach did a great thing by pointing out our individuals flaws, so that we know what to do.

  13. 1. Rate your performance today from 1 to 10 and justify your rating.
I would rate myself a 3. I did not do or even try my best as a player today. My fitness level was not up to standard and could'nt even do my best till half time.

2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?I learnt that team attitude is extremely important.I also have to keep my fitness level up to form and not let it hinder my performance. In fact I should train such that it will be to my advantage.

3. Do you think the team did well today? The teamwork today was not evident.
I think that this is because we have not played together in this team before. Therefore the communication is not there and we are not on the same wavelength.

4. How can you help the team to improve?Improving my indivudial skill will definelty help the team as a whole.Being good in your own aspects will help the team. For example if the defence can handle opponents attacks well, our attackers can safely attack and also not waste much energy tracking back.

5. What do you think the team can do together to improve? We should train together more often.I think that we should also play more friendies against similiar or lower level opponents to build up our confidence have we need to feel how its like to win.
    .

6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.
I don't think we have a man of the match today.

  14. 1. Rate your performance today from 1 to 10 and justify your rating
I would rate myself a 1/10 as i did very badly and also i did not support adil and ryan in the attcking.
    i.e.
    What I do well today?
    I did nothing well today.
    What could have been better?
I could have formed the triangle together with the two attackers and also have been more fit.
Did I apply what I have learned in training?
No i did not apply what i have learned in training.
    2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?
I learnt that we are not the best team and also i learnt that the team has very low fitness.
    3. Do you think the team did well today?
I think that the team did not do well today, I should say that we did horrible.
    4. How can you help the team to improve?
I can help the team improve by improving my own fitness as I was very tired after going in to the field.
    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?
I think that the team can improve on our fitness and also we can improve on our positioning as some of the players were out of their positions.
    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.
I think that the MEN of the match today should be Ryan and Adil as they tried their very best to attempt to score goals or at least test the keeper.

2/10. I managed to pull a few tackles, stop a few crosses, clear a few balls but that was about it.
    What I do well today?
I guess I didn't do much, due to the fact that they kept playing down the flanks to cross and I was unable to stop most of them as they were alot stronger, bigger, faster. However, I managed to stop the man I was marking most of the time and yet not go out of position which is a plus
    What could have been better?
I could have been more alert to further prevent attacks coming in from them.
Did you apply what I have learned in training?
No i did not apply what i have learned in training.
    2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?
I learned that there are lots of teams bigger and stronger than us so it is up to us to defend well and hold them back. I also learned that a draw was seriously possible and early in the 1st half (from goal 2 to goal 3),we held them back for long periods of time.
    3. Do you think the team did well today?
In a way, yes. Although we were thrashed, we managed to continue trying to attack and even though we lost by alot, we were up against a faster, bigger, stronger, and most importantly, more experienced side. It was a first time in a competitive match so we lacked the experience to cope against them. We were also without many of the senior players.
    4. How can you help the team to improve?
We can organise other sessions to improve physical and the way we play
    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?
I think we can all work together, stop shooting the ball, start training physical, practice more often, defend better.
    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection.
Luke. Definitely Luke. Or Wilbur. They both improved alot in 2nd half and managed to clear quite a number of balls, although the misjudged many. They were also putting in tackles and didnt give up.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 1. I would've rated myself a 6 or 7. I think i did okay in adapting to my position, though i thought it was great trying that out, i couldn't do a few things. I managed to block 1 or 2 crosses, intercept a pass or two, and tackle some of the opponents but when i got the ball, sometimes, i didn't have the courage. Maybe slightly scared, but i had to make fast decisions when the keeper passed the ball while an opponent charged towards me. I also could not properly clear the ball up field when needed. I could've had more confidence in myself and maybe that would already help me in tackling, clearing alone. Did i apply what was in the training? A little i guess, but as i didn't train as a defender, i forgot that when i trained as an attacked, the defenders were always behind me, but after the match, i realised for the entire match i have been in-front of the attackers or the opponents which i guess was wrong.

    2. I learned that fast decisions, but good ones, are key in a game. If i was slow, the opponent would get the ball, if i was fast, i could've helped the team keep the ball. Like by passing or dribbling, or clearing.

3.No, as a lot got tired fast and a lot i think didn't perform what was taught by coach.

    4. we could train on our physicals during our free time.

5.We could start to communicate more as we didn't much in the match.

    6. I think it's Darius because he kept calm, cool, and was always focus. he didn't looked like he got tired till the end of the match and was always ready.

I wrote so much more, i wrote this 3 times, but the SST e-mail login page kept popping up, so everytime i log-in i kept getting redirected, was so fed-up and wrote this fast =.=
