  1. 1. Comment on your individual performance
I thought today i definitely gave clearer instructions to the team. Instead of using generic terms, i know give specific instructions to the players which seems to aid their ability to know their position better. Other than that, i thought i've committed and won a fair amount of balls. The containing was also better.
    2. What have you learnt?
I have learnt that the defences really requires the other team members to help out, especially when they outnumber us. When we more players in our own half, we are able to intercept their ball much more easily. Also i have seen that keeping control of the ball, instead of clearing provides great opportunities to the strikers and mid fielders. I also learnt that if provoked by the opponent, walk away.
    3. Comment on the team's performance
I though the team performed rather admirable. Despite the muddy and tough opponents, we actually put in much more effort and was really going for the balls and stealing the balls away from the opponent. The support at the back was great too.
    4. How can you as an individual help the team?
I think that as an individual, i can continue to provide support to the team by communicating to the rest of the members on their position and also motivating them. In the defence department, i think i can be just as committed in stealing the balls away from the atttackers and containing the balls well.
    5. How do you think the team can improve together?
I think the team can improve by keeping up with the mental strength that we displayed in today's match. The urge to want the ball must constantly be present in our minds and irregardless of the physical abuse and uncatchable breathe, we have to chase down every ball and capitalise on every chance.
    6. Who do you think were outstanding in their performance today? What made them stand out?
I thought that Bryan actually did a much better job at being left def. He contained, stole and cleared many balls from the left flank.

  2. I think the team did relatively well during this match and most of the players did not give up till the last minute. Also, we were putting up a good defence and keeping much more possession than usual. It is disappointing that we lost. I think the team had a good metal strength and desire to win the match this time round. I think the team can improve by having more aggression and trying our best to win every ball that we have the opportunity to. The defenders, Brian, ODS, Niklaus and Darius kept the defence good and I thought they did very well.

    1. Johanan please redo your reflections. It's not quite up to standard.

  3. 1. Comment on your individual performance
I missed quite a couple of chances and I didn't dispatch my free kick well. I also missed a 1-on-1 chance with the goalkeeper as I didn't expect a defender to cut me out on my left. I was deciding if I should hit the ball first time, dribble round the keeper or chip it over him. This process made me lose focus and hence a defender was able to interrupt what seems like a certain goal. There was also a chance where I volleyed wide when clean thru, perhaps hesitating if I was in an offside position, and I also scored via a decent air chip but ultimately ruled out for offside, which I'm absolute certain it's not. With a bit more decisiveness, I think there's a good chance we would have turned the result around. However, I feel that I controlled and dribbled the ball well today, especially on the left flank. I also cut into space a few times to try and take shots, although they were not on target. My passes today were accurate and one of them led Matthew thru on goal with the keeper, even though he missed. I feel that if I had a little more determination, the result may be a whole lot different.

    2. What have you learnt?
I've learnt that positioning yourself before making a run is important as it'll determine if you're able to latch onto a fast high ball or prevent yourself from being ruled out for offside. Knowing when to shift to the left and right is also crucial as I'll be providing extra support for the wingers.

    3. Comment on the team's performance
For this match, we did well overall as a unit. Honestly, the 2 goals continued was just so out of the blue. One moment I was tracking back from the center circle and the next moment the ball ends up in the end of the net. Totally unexpected. But we did well and we showed more hunger and vigour when we go up offensively. However, the defenders have to clear the ball way better ie. straight high and away, not to the sides and low to the ground. It gave us quite a few scares when one of the back four failed to clear the ball to safety. Also, some of our players should have more confidence in themselves and focus on the game instead of recalling about their negatives in the match. 10 mins into the second half and some players already gave up totally and were just leisurely strolling around. There's still 30 mins to go, so never give up like seriously.

    4. Who do you think were outstanding in their performance today? What made them stand out?
I feel that the back four deserve recognition for their renewed effort against a offensively-minded team. Sean also made some crucial saves to keep us in it. Matthew showed some glimpses of brilliance, but he really has to work on his positioning ie running down the flank more instead of camping behind two defenders waiting for someone to chip the ball over all of them. Adil did relatively well and he attempted more passes that the previous game, but he should once again have more confidence in what he's going to do next.

  4. Today's performance was bittersweet. In the whole match, I committed 2 fatal mistakes from 2 corners to allow the opponent to gained an advantage over us even though we were dominating the game. It is something unforgivable as no matter how good my performance was after those mistakes, if I could not bring a goal back for the team, we will never going to get the 3 points. Yet, other than the 2 mistakes, I believe I have played my best since this tournament. I was running up and down the flanks to support the attack, winning the ball from the opponent to start a counter attack and even trying a shot once, which came close to a goal.

Mistakes are mistakes, in the game they have to be put aside. We have to focus on the game, our mission at hand. It's time we stand positive, united as one, to encourage each other and to do better to correct our mistakes. And I have to thank the team for giving me the encouragement to do better, go faster and tackle harder when I make those mistakes, and it is why other than the 2 mistakes, I felt it was the best I have had thus far.

This match seemed somewhat different, we were attacking as a team, trying to connect the passes and then playing the through ball. That created confusion in the opponent's defence. However, it is time we learn to multi task to watch the ball and the last line of defence, many of our best chances disappeared.

I believed Niklaus did well today, playing the best thus far of the tournament. He managed to clear almost every 50/50 ball and thanks to his covering, i had the confidence to tackle the opponent whole heartedly to get the ball, and while there were occasional times I didn't get the ball, it is thanks to Niklaus we weren't under that much pressure.

No matter what mistakes we committed the last match, it's time to let go of them and focus on our last chance for our first win!

  5. Personal reflection
I think that I didn't do as much as I could that match. even though I like the idea of Darius and I switching roles, I'm not sure about the effectiveness of that. There were many times were I could have gone in for the tackle but I decided to just let him run while containing him. But I think I got a few tackles that prevented some crosses, although it came out as a corner which is a bit saddening. Something else, I'm starting to think that 4-3 match was somehow by luck. Their relentless attacks got them scoring 3 goals in 20 min, while we scored -1 goals in 40 min, perhaps its because that we focused too much on the defending line when we were sec 1.

    How did the team fare?
I think that the team did pretty okay for me. Other than the attack, that was a bit off goal. The first goal we conceded, was largely due to the miscommunication of sean and bryan. However, the 3 crosses are meant for a goal each. I don't really understand what happened there but Adil had a great chance of using is body to drive the ball into the goal.

    Individually
I think, as an individual I can read the game more effectively and perhaps not be fooled by fake shots. Also, there were times where no one was covering the left as the defense was in the opponent half for an attack, leaving one of us behind. I think that should be the way but we have to keep an eye for any counter attacks. I believe that its our attacking part that was flawed today.

    MOTM?
I don't really have a MOTM for this match. I'm not sure why but I dont see any one really outstanding. >< Maybe Wen Kai's positioning for receiving a pass is still in my memory. Other than that, I think that when a defender goes for a header and the opponent ducks below the defender, is fun. But maybe a bit dangerous as if the defender landed on his back straight, it hurts a bit.

    1. ODS just a comment regarding your concern in your personal reflection: If you feel that you can get the ball off of the attacker, and you are confident of yourself, go ahead and make the tackle. Just make sure you can recover quick in case you fail to win the ball. You've got great abilities, but you are another player who lack confidence. Show more confidence and you'll definitely do even better than you are now :)

  6. I felt that as a team, it was our best game so far. We truly worked as a team that deserved to win the game. But life doesn't always work like we want it to, but it doesn't matter. It's over now, let's focus on what's left. But as for my personal performance, it wasn't my best, for as much as I had won many challenges and played my part as RB/CB, I was still weak aerially and it's unacceptable for a CB. I've also lost focus a few times but fortunately I wasn't punished for it. I also feel that I could've done better communicating with everyone, for I was rather quiet in my opinion.

On the bright side, I feel that I've improved in terms of my calmness on the ball. My first touch has been disappointing at times, but overall I think it was rather good. I was able to play some good passes and contributed a little to the attack, not as much as I would've liked though. I also feel that I've worked very well with Nik and ODS, covering and communicating effectively. This made us almost impenetrable throughout the game, other than the few shots from distance and the two corner goals we conceded. Our movement with the team is also definitely better, when we attacked, the back four pushed up as well to cover for the defensive hole between the midfield and defense, and I think that helped us a lot. We also handled counter-attacks well, and often cut it out early and bring it against New Town again.

As a team, I think we're communicating better, though it can still be improved. We also played much more passes than we ever did before, and I do hope we can keep this up. What we've learnt in training, the triangle and support play, are slowly more visible in our game, but it can still be better. We created a lot of chances and I'm sure we had New Town's heart in their mouths many many times. But, I can see that our fitness is still a problem for some of us. Since we're having our last game tomorrow, I hope we can go all out, 1000%, and fight for what we deserve. I know some of us already are, but those few players won't win us the game. To summarize what I've said: Do better than we did against New Town. You'll get what you deserve.

As for MOTM, I would have to say Bryan and Jia Le. Bryan was impressive against New Town. His desire to get the ball was evident in the fact that he won almost every challenge and was unbeaten down our left. He was able to sprint forward and get to the ball ahead of New Town wingers, and played his part offensively. For Jia Le, he has put in a lot for the team. He's taken many hits from New Town midfielders/defenders, and has run up and down tirelessly, playing his part in both ends of the pitch. He created a few chances for us, and also took a few for himself. It may not be his best performance with us, but it is one worthy of praise. He was more or less all over the field: supporting at left flank and helping out in defending at the RB position. His contribution to the team so far is unrivaled and I do hope everyone can use him as a role model in the future (without all the vulgarities and temper)

    4. Wasn't doing that well and winning the ball the time i played.

    2. What have you learnt?

I learnt that a solid defence is very important but a solid attack is just as important because we had a great defence but we did not make use of most of the attacking opportunities although there were still some.

    3. Comment on the team's performance

The team performed fairly well especially the back 4 in the defense as you can see they are confident on the balls that were coming towards them.

    4. How can you as an individual help the team?

I can work on my ball control especially on aerial balls as we are not getting the balls from the goalkicks so we cannot attack properly when we regain possession from goalkicks

    5. How do you think the team can improve together?

The team should work on more passing and moving forward in a game situation like the training on friday so we would be able to know what to do when the ball is played.

    6. Who do you think were outstanding in their performance today? What made them stand out?

MoTm would be wenkai as i see he have put in alot of effort to try for th goal although there were 3 goals that was offside, he stil did not giv up and fought on

  8. 1) I would rate myself 6.8. As much as I could say that I worked hard, it wasn't good enough. I did my best to supply balls in behind the defence for Wen Kai to latch on and even took shots that should have been better. However, I feel that my tracking back needs to be quicker. Aside from that, my man marking was not bad, using what Darius showed us and staying very close to the striker.

    2) I've learnt that the fruits of our labour are only ripe when we focus from start to finish. It didn't feel good losing to a team like New Town (not discounting their calibre or anything) knowing that we could have drawn or even won. The 2 goals conceded doesn't justify our performance on the pitch but it does show that it only takes a moment of snoozing for us to suffer the consequences.

3/4/5) I felt that the team played really well, as a team. It was evident on the field that almost every single player wants to win, and have the desire to fight for every ball. The back four was superb in containing the strikers and the midfielders were supporting both when in possession and not. However, there are some key points I'd like to bring up for us to improve our game. Firstly, we need to capitalise on chances. It isn't difficult to create chances (for me) but what actually counts is finishing it. Secondly, our judgement of the ball needs to be better. This doesn't need elaboration from the goals we conceded. Finally, knowing what to do with the ball and not wasting possession. I know it is not easy to look up and thread a successful pass under pressure. However, it is necessary to know what is best for the team when in possession. Do you dribble? Pass? Clear? Shoot? Thus, deciding what to do before even getting the ball is crucial if we were to win our final game against Westwood.

    6) I think the MOTM award should be shared by Niklaus and Darius. They displayed reliability at the back and cleared the ball much better with conviction as compared to previous matches. Niklaus was excellent at covering for Bryan, who also had a good game winning balls and supporting the left flank, and comanding the defence. He also displayed sportsmanship by walking away from taunts and confronting after the final whistle with a non-provoking tone. Darius did well as a captain as he did his best to lift the spirits up after each goal is conceded. He shouldn't be the only player doing so; if we want to win our final game of the tournament, we need to be supportive of each other, both mentally and physically.

  9. I feel that the team did improve this time as compared to the previous games. There was certainly more communication and there were more challenges. More people gave it their 100% whenever they go up for challenges. The defence did well in clearing the ball at one touch and we also created more attacking opportunities than before. Unfortunately just a bit of slack from the defence cause a goal to be conceded. This shows that we must stay more focused at all times and try our best to keep an eye on the ball at all times. I believe that everyone did well but the one that did outstanding was wenkai, darius and niklaus. They constantly encouraged the team throughout the match and at the same time did well in supporting the attack by clearing balls to the flanks allowing the defence to obtain it and create an attacking opporunity. This really benefited the team by boosting morale by constantly giving us the impression that we stand a chance. If we try harder we will be able to school. Wenkai did well as he tried his best in scoring goals. He did some great shots and it really boosted the teams morale by tellling each other. Hey Wen kai is out there trying his best to help us win, we can help him out by trying harder. Therefore. I believe Wenkai was one of the most outstanding players on the pitch.

  10. 1. Comment on your individual performance
I have perform better in terms of fitness as I am am to support the offense and drop back to help out with the defense quickly and yet not feel exhausted compare to my previous games.

    2. What have you learnt?
Midfielders play a crucial role in defending and attacking. They need to be prepare to support either one all the time or else there will be a "missing link" and play will be hard to proceed.

    3. Comment on the team's performance
The team did perform better and we managed to take a number of shots. However, there were a lot of wasted attempts and we did not manage to score goals, hence it was quite disappointing.

    4. How can you as an individual help the team?
I should try to push myself to the limits in terms of fitness more often in order to fill up gaps in the defence and offence. This can help the team make more progress in terms of maintaining possession.

    5. How do you think the team can improve together?
The team should have a positive mindset when it comes to the game and be more encouraging to each other to boost their morale.

    6. Who do you think were outstanding in their performance today? What made them stand out?
The defenders were playing up to standards during the game, with a lot of successful tackles and clearances made, leaving less for the keeper to worry about. However, they are still letting through a lot of aerial balls from set pieces.

  11. I feel that I did rather well this match but there are areas for improvement too. I did well in the way of making better passes and also being able to better control the aerial balls especially goal kicks. I tried quite a few through passes to the striker although most of them did not reach the striker due to it having a tad too much power and too little weight. My control was better in this match as my first touches were quite good and I did not lose the ball as much to the opponent. However, they are aspects where I need to do better. One big example is that I have to have more confidence in my ability. I say this as I do not perform as well as I do in games than in when playing around with friends. Thats why I feel that I have to be more confident.

I feel that the team did very well. We were solid at the back and we were rather dangerous going forward too. Actually, I think this is the first time that we dominated possession for a period of time. This shows that the team has come a long way and has improved greatly. The defenders were exceptional today, bar some lapses in concentrations. These lapses in concentrations did lead to us conceding the 2 goals. The defence held really well and made quite a few tackles which led to some counterattacks. Unfortunately we were unable to convert any of our chances. I feel that this is also one area for improvement in the team. We should be more clinical in front of goal as chances do not come too often to us, therefore we should make every chance count.

I feel that Bryan did very well as he made most of his tackles and tracked back whenever he or the team lost the ball. Niklaus also did well as he recovered very well whenever the opposition slipped past him, even winning the ball back at times.

    2. What have you learnt?
We still lack that winning mentality that will push us to a win of the game. Hopefully, by tomorrow, the prospect of playing our final game may finally push all of us to give even more than an 100% and we get our well deserved first win. We also need to cut out our habit of having a slow start, as it would always end up with our morals down due a goal normally being conceded. However, it is good to know that the team is able able to increase our overall mental strength, as the team fought hard thorough the entire match.

    3. Comment on the team's performance
The team played one of the best games of the tournament today. Upon sitting on the bench for so long, it was great to finally see the whole team play as one. In my opinion the whole team was quite well synced this match, even for the couple of mishaps that had occurred. Overall, I find that our defense was spectacular this game, as we mainly gave the opponent strikers a hard time to attack. Our offense was also much more powerful this game, as we managed to keep pushing into their defense, and for once in a game we managed to hold the opponents in their side of the field for a moment in time. I can also see much more support play and communication by the players, and passing is also much more common. However, we still need to improve on our fitness, as we always tend to die down in the final parts of the game as we are not able to run anymore, thus we have to depend on Sean to save the balls.

    4. How can you as an individual help the team?
From practice I can see that I still need to work on my ball control, especially my first touch with the ball if I want to help support my time with attacking more. I also need to communicate more with the team, and also learn where I need to position myself to be of benefit to the team.

    5. How do you think the team can improve together?
Firstly, we need to improve overall fitness. Although this may be our last game, it is not the last game for SST. We should make sure that all the other teams in the years to come are well trained in terms of fitness, so if we are not able to match a team in skill, we must match them in fitness. Other than that, all we can do is to practice set pieces and sprinting, so we can get to the ball more often and capitalize on free kicks and corners in order to score more.

    6. Who do you think were outstanding in their performance today? What made them stand out?
I think our defense performed spectacularly today, as they all communicated very well and helped out one another whenever possible. There was also close man muck throughout the game, thus making it much more difficult for the opponents to break into our defense. However, I would like to highlight Bryan. Although he may have slipped up in the beginning, he made us all overlook that with his sheer 150% effort thorough the whole game, until there was nearly no successful breakthroughs on his flank of the field.

  13. 1. Comment on your individual performance
I personally feel that I did not really do well this match as throughout the game, especially so during corners, I was unable to command my defense properly and also position myself properly, hence, leading to the 2 silly goals conceded directly from the corner kick. I also had plenty of miscommunication between my defense and myself.

    2. What have you learnt?
I have learnt that positioning is extremely important being a goalkeeper as it can make the difference between being able to save an incoming shot or not. I also learnt that communication is vital throughout the team as it is the key to both defending and attacking.

    3. Comment on the team's performance
Overall, the team did really well today as we managed to keep the opponents from taking chances at goal for a good portion of the game. We even managed to create many chances at scoring but unfortunately, we were unable to convert any of those chances. To be honest, this match, I did not even make many saves from the shots by the opponent as our defense played extremely well and closed down the opponents quickly before they could further develop their attack.

    4. How can you as an individual help the team?
I think as a goalkeeper, I do have to improve the accuracy and standard of my drop kicks. I have noticed that recently, I tend to kick the ball right out of play when I try to drop kick the ball down the flanks. Either that, or I play the ball down the center, causing it to be lost to the opponent. This is me putting unnecessary pressure on my own team as the ball is instantly lost and played back into our own half.

    5. How do you think the team can improve together?
I think that the team has to focus on taking those all important chances on goal. If we were able to convert our goal scoring opportunies into actual goals, I believe that we would have a much bigger presence on the field as this would really demonstrate our mental strength, being able to fight on even though we are behind. This would help boost our morale and at the same time, make our opponents a little more fearful of us.

    6. Who do you think were outstanding in their performance today? What made them stand out?
Overall, I think that all areas of our team played well today. Our defense was tight and quick to close down the opponent strikers. Bryan and Niklaus definitely put in their best and their performance is testament to their effort. Our midfield did well by managing to create some excellent attacking opportunities down the flanks and one time, even a great through pass down the middle even though it was an offside. Finally, our strikers put in their best efforts in constantly taking shots on goal and pressuring the opponent defense. I feel that if more of our shots were on target, at least a few would have went in. All in all, it is great to see that the team has improved so much over the years and I urge everyone to put in their all in this final match so that we can finally achieve what we have always wanted.

  14. 1. I didn't do quite well as a right mid. I've done better against Swiss Cottage and others, but somehow I felt that I am underperforming these few matches.
    2. I have learnt that quick peripheral vision is important. In other words, looking up and quickly analysing the position of teammates and opponents before making passes or shots.
    3. The team did well, as compared to some other games. We managed to neutralise the attacks and shots, and only conceded from the corners. We managed to stop their dribbles and gain possession really quickly.
    4. For me I think I can only help the team based on attack. As an attacking player, I find it quite challenging to track back quickly and defend, that's why I've been playing striker all these while, until the few recent matches.
    5. The team can really improve on our counterattacks. Many times we have gained possession in the defending or middle third of the pitch, but only to lose the ball on the attacking third when we are about to attack.
    6. I would say that Niklaus really did his best. He managed to neutralise almost all attacks in his area, and even outside his playing positions a few times. Therefore I would like to commend him on his effort and commitment for the team.
