  1. I would rate myself a 3 as I was a second half substitute and only played for about 20 minutes. I tried to track back to help the left back and support the attack but it was not enough. I learnt as a player and spectator that communication is very important. There was a chance that went to waste because Matthew and I was expecting each other to get the ball and in the end the defenders took the ball. I learnt that our first touch was also very important because to dribble, we need to get the ball and the get the ball, our first touch has to be good. Coach has also repeated for the last 2 matches to bring our water bottles. I think the team did not do very badly but there are lots of room for improvement. I can help the team by working on my speed and stamina so I can track back more quickly to help the left back and still have the strength to burst forward to help out in the attack. I think the team could have done better in covering each other and having the desire to win the ball. I think Bennett was the man of the match for our team today as he has a strong desire of winning the ball and would go for every ball. He was the one of the only few in the team working hard to win the ball for us. Another one of those was Tobias. Even though he was a second half substitute, he went for every ball with the hunger for it.

  2. I would give myself a 3 because I feel that I defending much better than i did as compared tot the previous match. However, I keep on committing at the wrong time if not too soon. The opponent always can get past me because of his speed and my mistimed tackles. I should try to make the containment of the opponent a habit so that I do not make such mistakes in the future. I felt that I did apply more pressure than I did before.

As a player, I learnt that during a throw-in we should not only mark their offensive players, but some of their defenders as well. The defenders often make a good cross after their team mate threw the ball to them, so we have to watch out. I also learnt that if we lose possession, we should get back the ball as soon as possible. There is no point running back and forth if we don't even have possession of the ball.
As a spectator, I realized several men unmarked, especially whenever their flanks has the ball. Our players just rush for the tackle and just wants to prevent the cross. I think the full backs should do whatever they can to stop the opposing wingers to send a cross in. While the fullback is on the man, the centrebacks and the defensive mids should mark the offensive players and the running man. This way, if the fullback fails to make the tackle, at least whoever the opponent is trying to send a cross to is marked by at least one man.

The team defended better in the first half. However, after the first two goals, I can tell a few players just gave up. No matter what the score line is, if the players are determined and still focused, the goal difference would not be that big.

I can help co ordinate the defense whenever I see an unmarked man and tell the nearest defender to mark him instead of being overconfident and marking two at once.

We have to stop having the attitude that we are going to lose when only a few goals are netted. A wrong attitude can make the goal gap even bigger because you would feel more depressed and your actions and movement would be more limited.

The team can work together and support the offense as much as possible, even the defenders can press on an attack, but there must someone to cover him.

I think Bennett should be the man of the match because he made necessary tackles and also helped cheered on the team. Even though he isn't in our school team, he seems like he is. His mentality and fitness is what pushed him on. He never stops chasing for the ball and is always alert. He does not rush for the tackle and instead knows when to contain and when to commit.

  3. I would give myself a 3. This is because I made less mistakes than the previous match, but there is still much to improve. One of the mistakes I made was that I could not jump high enough, and during a cross from the opponent into our penalty box, I could not jump high enough to head the ball out of its initial path. The ball was then head into goal by number 14. The second mistake I made was that I was not able to clear the ball accurately or far enough. This includes some of the goal kicks. Though I had improved slightly from the previous match, I still have a long way to go before I can compared myself with other players from other schools.

I learned as a player that ball control is an important factor in a game of soccer, because, we would need to be in control of the ball in order to apply other things we have learn what we have learned before, like passing and dribbling. Also, I learned that the team still has a long way to go before we can compare to others, and that we need to do our own individual training.

The team did slightly better in terms of performance compared to the previous match. But in terms of morale and persistence, the team did not improve much compared to the last match as almost the same thing happened. We let in a few goals and players' heads started going down, which led to the opponents scoring a few more goals. Moreover, there was a element of fear in our team, we did not dare to challenge the ball, there was hesitation.

In order for the team to improve, we would need to tackle the problems stated. The morale and the fear. This would require experience and more game time in order to overcome, which in time would come. But of course, we cannot idle and wait for those things to come to us.

Man of the match would be Bennett, we was hungry for the ball and constantly tried to get it from the opponent. Of course this also led to some reckless tackles. These he would need to be able to reduce in the coming matches. But nonetheless, his effort is commendable.

  4. I would rate myself 3. I did better than the previous match in a sense that I helped in both the attack and defense during the time that I was playing. However I did not communicate with the right back, Choon Wee, and in a result we gave away opportunities for the opponent, and the other defenders had to rush in to help us defend. And, as I was rushing back and forth to defend and attack, I got quite tired. I should learn not to waste all of my energy at the start of the game as I might not be able to continue playing the rest of the half. I have learnt that communication is key during the game, especially with the players that play in the similar roles as I am in. The team did not really do well in anything, neither did the team did very badly at anything. However, there are always improvements that can be made. I can help contribute to the team but improving my playing styles like running to the line while supporting in the attack. Also, I can improve on my first touch. This can help by not giving the possession away to the opponents when I get the ball. The team can help to support the attack as there has been a lot of opportunities for us to score, but because of the lack of options of who to pass, the opportunities were wasted. I feel that Bennett was very outstanding during the whole match. He challenged every single ball that went into his area, and even after losing out, he would still chase after the ball. Bennett also gave commands when it came to defense.

  5. I would rate my performance a 6 cause i managed to do some important tackles to stop the opponent from shooting but I think that I should be more careful when tackling as I was too agressive and I got a yellow card for tackling number 14 in the other team. I think that I did not do well in the second half after my yellow card as i was too worried to tackle but then i tried to fall back to help the team pressure the opponent and still tackled the opponent when needed to stop the movement from the opponent.

I had learnt to be more careful when tackling and also to contain the opponent better so that I can tackle the opponent properly to stop the opponent from moving into our half. I have also learn to face the opponent more clamly as after my yellow card and this is a mental challenge as most people would be afraid to tackle after the card and You have to be more mentally stable after getting the card :D

I dont think the team did very well even though i could see more communication between defenders but then the communication the strikers had wasnt much there fore causing a mistake which may lead us scoring a goal. They should have talked in the game and also planned out how to strike.

I can help to clear the balls upward so that the strikers can strike and they will have more chances to score and to get a point for us. I can also assist the defenders to actually clear the ball when they need help and give them enough pressure so that the opponents will not have the chance to strike back and score against us.

I think that the team should not let their moral go down after we let in a goal but instead they should fierce up and have the hunger for the ball. I always tell my team mates that if you fear the opponent you have already lost half the game thus we should always get hungry for the ball so that we can win the ball and get more chances to score against our opponent.

I think that i will give the man of the match to timothy as he did well to clear the ball outwards and also he did well to command the defence but there is still room for improvement for him to command the defence better.

    1. Rate your performance today from 1 to 10 and justify your rating
       i.e.
    What I do well today?
    What could have been better?
Did I apply what I have learned in training? If yes, how?

I think i would rate myself a 3. I think i have improved bait compared to previous matches however there is a lot of things i did not do , i think i should have done all those during the match. For example , staying on my toes , facing the ball all the time and also recovering to my position. I think that i did not apply all that i've learnt in training. I learnt to stay on my toes all the time however i didn't. I think i can improve on that.

    2. What did you learn as a player/spectator from the match today?

I learnt that we must always be on our toes as in a split second we must already start sprinting. I also learnt that we should mark our own mans and cover for our team mates as any unmarked man my lead to them scoring. I also learnt as a player that we must never give up even though we let in a few goals. If we give up , more goals would let in.

    3. Do you think the team did well today?

I think that the team did not do that well however , defense was better at the start but the defense got weaker after the goals number got bigger. I think thats our main problem , we are giving up too easily , we should not do that.

    4. How can you help the team to improve?

I can do my part by covering my teammates when needed and also help timothy command the defense if needed. I would also mark unmarked players so that they do not have a chance to shoot.

    5. What do you think the team can do together to improve?

Work together and communicate more so that we know when to do what.

    6. Who do you think is the man of the match today and justify your selection

I think bennett did a quite good. He managed to chase down every ball and was on his toes the whole time. He has good mentality unlike some of us , he pushed on and try his best to win the ball. Like what coach said , he had the aggression to win the ball , the desire to win the ball. Many of us should do that as well.

  7. 1) I would rate myself 5.3. I was quite disappointed with the fact that I was unable to complete the second half. In this match, my gameplan was physical. However, it turns out that the opposition team were even more aggressive to win the ball. Therefore, I failed to impose myself in the middle of the park and had to resort to flying tackles at the opponent to knick the ball off them. This is both dangerous to the opponent and I as even though I may get the ball, chances of contact is high and injury will be inevitable.

    2) I've learnt that having a good physique is important especially when facing such tough opponents. Nevermind our technique; we need to beef up and turn our fitness up a notch. Also, containing the opponent will be a much better option than flying in first time as committing ourselves like this will give the opponent ample time and opportunity to beat us.

3/4/5) I felt that the team has grown in terms of experience and we displayed some form of possession play in the second half. With that being said, we will need to start converting such experiences to results during training. In order to improve ourselves as individual, we must find the passion and desire to do so. Like what Coach said, training 2 times a week is definitely not enough. Since our technical areas are not that good, we should use our personal time to improve our fitness and strengthen our upper body. This way, Coach can focus on our weak points (technical) during training.

    6) I can safely say that it will do the entire team unjust if I were to pick out a MOTM. Our performance, yet again, was mediocre as a whole. However, praises ought to go to Bennett and Tobias for having the desire to chase down every ball. Such spirit is commendable and I hope the rest of the team can look up to that and carry out their duties on the pitch better.

  8. I would rate myself a 3 due to rather poor judgement and reading of the game. However, I feel that I made a few good saves, hence the higher-than-1 rating.

From the match, I learnt that when playing in goal, one must not rely too much on the defenders and be proactive, as I found myself constantly waiting for my defenders to get the ball instead of going for the save, costing us a goal. I also learnt that one must restrain himself and not overcommit as exhibited in the final goal that I conceded before leaving the pitch.

Considering this was the first match that I have played in during the duration of this tournament, I don't know how the team did in the previous matches. However, I do not think that there was much effort put in by our players, including myself.

In order to help the team improve, i need to work on my judgement as mentioned above.

The man of the match for this game would be Bennett, as his spirit and hunger for the ball was really inspiring
